MyDipKit is a do it yourself version of the commercial process known as water transfer imaging. Water transfer imaging, also called curve coating printing, or hydrographics, is a way to transfer an image to a 3D surface. This overcomes problems faced by offset printing, such as, the image not printing in hard to reach areas, or the higher expense of equipment. The water transfer imaging process can be applied to the surface of materials such as metals, wood, plastic, stone, bakelite, ceramic, and others.
MyDipKit allows you to process parts on a small scale in your home. The kit contains the printed film, chemicals, and basic supplies needed for processing. MyDipKit can be used in a variety of applications such as hunting equipment (i.e. rifle or shotgun stocks, bow quivers and stabilizers, tree stand parts, gun cases, gun racks); Automotive (i.e. interior panels, tail light covers, speaker boxes, hub caps); Home Furnishings (i.e. CD cases, coffee cups, picture frames); and Computers (ie.e computer cases, monitor cases, mouse shells), plus much more.
Each kit comes standard with:
1 - 4oz aerosol can of activator
1 - 4oz aerosol can of primer
1 - 4oz aerosol can of base coat paint
1 - 4oz aerosol can of clear top coat
1 - Mask
1 - Pair of latex gloves
1 - 3"x4" scuff pad
1 - sq meter of film (choose pattern)
Instructions for dipping process, along with a link with username and password to an online video showing the process and detailing the instructions.
The user provides the dipping container, heated water and eye protection. Please note that these kits are not designed for commercial applications. Its purpose is to give an individual the opportunity to experience first hand Water Transfer Imaging. The end result is based on the capabilities of the individual processing the parts.
